Chandigarh, February 22, 2015 (News Team): Cultural function, performances and competitions marked the conclusion of the three days Chandigarh Rose Festival at Rose Garden, sector 16 in Chandigarh with the Mayor of Chandigarh Poonam Sharma distributing various prizes to the winners.

The Mayor was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes to winners of various competitions, participants of cultural events, band parties as well as gardeners. Mayor lauded the efforts of all the team of officers to make the Rose festival success despite rainy day on the 20th February. Councilors and all senior officers were present during the prize distribution function.

On the third and final day a Musical Evening namely “Old is Gold” has been organized by the Municipal Corporation in Rose Garden in which Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Finance Secretary, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest. During the evening V.P. Singh, IAS, Commissioner, Gurbax Rawat Deputy Mayor other councilors and senior officers of MC were also present.

During the musical evening 11 versatile male female singers presented old movie numbers with orchestra and musical band enthralled the public with their performance on live band show. The singers sung Old numbers including songs of Mohd. Raffi, Mukesh, K. L. Sehgal, Lata Mangeskar, Kishore Kumar and Punjabi Numbers.

During the day function various competition were held including on the spot painting competition. The results of the on the spot painting are as under:

3rd Prize: Shyran
Consolation 1: Deevansh
Consolation 2: Lakshitta
Consolation 3: Shyla

Group ‘B’ (Age 8-11 Years)
1st Prize: Yashavi Sharma
2nd Prize: Usha Kiran
3rd Prize: Kinjal Chandel
Consolation 1: Himanshu Sodhi
Consolation 2: Ridhi
Consolation 3: Mannat Kaur Gill

Group ‘C’ (Age 11-14 Years)
1st Prize: Anuj Gupta
2nd Prize: Mohit
3rd Prize: Aarushi Sharma

Group ‘D’ (Age 14-17 Years)
1st Prize: Tripti
2nd Prize: Advika Kanav
3rd Prize: Mahima

Another major attraction was the Antkashri competition in which various children participated. There were four groups in the final round and the results are as under:

1st Simran Choudhary and Rupali Jagga, MCM DAV College, Sector 36, Chandigarh.
2nd Surbhi and Satvik, GGDSD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh.
