Chandigarh, February 16, 2015 (News Team): Peace Club of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh in collaboration with Yuvsatta an NGO organized an interactive session with Hira Lal Yadav as a part of a ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Abhiyan’ that has been conducted across the country by him. Hiralal is touring from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on bicycle spreading awareness on promoting rights, dignity of girls and women in society.

Principal Dr. Jyoti Khanna extending a warm welcome to him and shared that Hiralal in the past also had undertaken many such campaigns in support of promoting national harmony, de-addiction, against drug abuse and prisoners of wars, for which he has been awarded by former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

Addressing the students Hiralal quoted a message of Late Kalpana Chawla, a well known astronaut of NASA, “The path from our dream to success exists; provided we have the sight to search, courage to walk on it and willpower to persevere.”

In his interactive session, speaking on issues of female foeticide he said that our traditions and rituals outline the existence of the Indian girl child. Amidst uproars of gender equality and law enforcement, female infants are still found dumped in trash by the dozens, while unborn foetuses continue to be sniffed in the womb. Wrought with discrimination and prejudiced by rituals, our society has dealt the girl child a rough hand, starting even before birth, till the dark of life. As a result despite all efforts still over six lacs cases of female foeticide happens annually in India. He also quoted some lines of his self composed poem on Female foeticide which left the entire audience in tears.

In the end Peace Club in charge of the College Dr. Richa Sharma presented vote of thanks and felicitated Hiralal for his noble mission.
