Ludhiana, November 28, 2014 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal today visited the premises of School for Meritorious Students in Civil Lines in Ludhiana and interacted with the students. He even shared his experiences with the students. During his visit to the school Deputy Commissioner urged the students to have complete faith in themselves and said that the students should contribute their bit for doing something for the betterment of the society. He also inquired from the students if they were facing any problem in studies.
Deputy Commissioner during his unscheduled and short visit to the school, checked the attendance register of the teachers and all the teachers were found present in the school.
When DC reached the school premises he even taught a class and asked questions on various subjects from the students. Later he shared experiences of his own school years with the students. He also checked the playgrounds and toilets used by students and found them neat and clean. The school staff informed the DC that a library has been started in the school premises and the students are also provided newspapers every day. The DC also checked the plants and tree saplings planted in the school premises and showed satisfaction about the way in which the school is being run.
DC said that the state government is committed for providing quality education to meritorious students. He said that these schools focus on grooming students of these schools to crack competitive exams like IIT-JEE, AIPMT, CA and Company Secretary besides the premier Civil Services exams.
Rajat Agarwal said that students studying in these schools are the cream of intellects selected from all over the State and it was the duty of education department to ensure that they excel in their chosen academic fields. He said that education department has already organised specialised and individual coaching classes for meritorious students and hoped that with the collective efforts these students would bring laurels to the state by cracking premier competitive exams.
