Photo by Neel Kamal SonuGuru Nanak International Public School, Model Town celebrated Gurpurab with great zeal and fervor to mark the Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The programme started with recital of 51 Paaths of Japji Sahib by 51 students followed by Shabad Gayan under the patronage of Holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The sangat made a beeline to pay obeisance to the great Guru. The students of Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle and Senior sections attired in white sang hymns, recited poems, gave speeches and sakhis on Guru Nanak Dev Ji. To spread the divine ambience about 46 Poems, 18 Speeches and equal numbers of Sakhis were recited by various students which focused on Guru’s teachings and tenets of universal brotherhood. Serenity floated in the air with the humming of the holy hymns and it paved the way for a very fruitful and productive day.

The highlights of the programme were Har Charan Sharan Gobind Dukh Bhanjana, a shabad sung melodiously by school music team. The shabads like Lodindara Sajan Mera, Galian Aasin Changiyan, Nanak Naam Jaape Gat Payee were also recited by students to relive the significant accounts from lives of Gurus. Through the Sakhis the students emphasized on the inspirational life of the spiritual Guru portraying his life history and teachings. Harguneet Singh narrated a sakhi on Nakli Sikh da haal and Ekampreet Singh, a Pre-Primary student emphasized on Guru Nanak Dev Ji de Jeevan te. A speech on Japji Sahib vichle panj khand was delivered by Upkar Kaur of class X and Gursimran Kaur 10th class student spoke on Guru Nanak Sahib Surbir de Roop Vich.

The poem Bandi Chhor Guru Nanak recited by Amolroop Kaur of class X and Aasin Wal Nankana jana by 9th std student made everyone wonderstruck and spellbound. Universal teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji echoed in the premises of the school. After the recitals of holy hymns and Ardas, Guru Ka Langar was served which was prepared and served by Staff and Students of the school. S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna General Secretary, S. Harbhajan Singh Manager, Mrs. P. Kahlon Director, Mrs. Gurmant Kaur Gill Principal alongwith staff and students joined hands in celebrating the Gurpurab of the founder of sikh religion Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
