Actor Bijay Anand talking to media persons about show Siya Ke Ram during his Ludhiana visit

Ludhiana, December 10, 2015 (Akash Sharma): Sita-Ram have always been an intrinsic part of our culture and their story has influenced civilizations across the globe. However every single interpretation of this tale has been seen as the story of Ram, and Sita hardly finds a mention in these versions.

Star Plus has always stood for compelling stories featuring strong, empowered and inspirational women protagonists. Now the channel is bringing to its viewers a fresh perspective on Ramayan, Siya Ke Ram where the story will be seen from Sita’s perspective.

After being part of blockbusters like Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha and Yash all those years ago, Bijay took a sabbatical from the movies and ventured into teaching Yoga. Bijay opened his own Yoga institute in Mumbai and has been teaching Yoga internationally since the last 15 years. The actor has now made his comeback into the industry with Siya Ke Ram as Raja Janak of Mithila.

Bijay Says, “Raja Janak is the kind of role I wanted to make a comeback with. Such roles choose you to play and be the part. When Nikhil Sinha (producer on the show) approached me for the show, he told me that he actually sees a lot of Raja Janak in me. Mithila as a nation was known for its calmness and serenity. I relate to Raja Janak in more ways than one. A month into telecast and Siya Ke Ram has been receiving a phenomenal response. We’ve known a lot about the Ramayana but through Siya Ke Ram, one is getting to see the unknown and unseen version of Ramayana.”

Siya Ke Ram will now be heading for a leap of 10 years from 14th of December, wherein the older Sita (played by Madirakshi) and Ram (played by Ashish Sharma) will be introduced. Sita and Ram will be seen meeting for the very first time at the Vishwamitra Aashram and thereafter will begin the journey how to two strong individual will meet.

Featuring Madirakshi as Sita and well-known TV actor Aashish Sharma as Ram, the show features a stellar supporting cast including veteran actor Dalip Tahhil as Dashrath, Bijay Anand as Janak, Grusha Kapoor as Kaikeyi and Karan Suchak as Lakshman. The show also stars renowned Marathi actress Bhargavi Chirmule as Sita’s mother Sunaina, Snigdha Akolkar as Kaushalya and Sampada Vaze as Sumitra.
