Mumbai, August 13, 2015 (Akash Sharma): Star Plus’s upcoming show Sumit Sambhal Lega revolves around the life of sports journalist Sumit essayed by actor Namit Das. Having a strong sports connection, the show features popular cricket commentators Harsha Bhogle and Jatin Saprufor one episode and more recently the makers revealed that they have roped in yet another big name!

For the first time ever, cricket stalwart Kapil Dev will be seen doing a special cameo as himself for one episode in the show which is an adaptation of globally popular sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. Having turned down numerous similar offers in the past, Kapil Dev shared why he chose this show, “I chose to go ahead with Sumit Sambhal Lega because I was simply asked to appear as myself in the show. That, of course, did not require any complicated acting and I believed I could pull it off, which is why I took it up. My experience with the camera is extremely different and to be honest I am not an actor. Since the show is somewhere also based on sports, it made sense to me. Moreover, the original series is quite well-known and since my personal favorite genre on TV is light-hearted comedy, Sumit Sambhal Lega seemed like the right choice.”

The show is based on the universal problem faced by all married men – the need to strike the right balance between one’s wife and mother. Having been married for 30 years, Kapil Dev also shared in a conversation that the secret behind this problem though not easy to crack though it helps to remember the importance of patience. He believes that the only remedy to this ‘Har Mard Ka Dard’ is to be careful not to give any one side his preference.

Kapil Dev’s performance in the show included him shooting with little kids which is quite a tough task. Shared actor Namit Das, “Kapil Paaji was so good with the kids, I was really surprised! I mean, where most people get irritated with the delays and crying, Kapil Paaji, in spite of being such a huge personality was extremely patient and handled the kids beautifully.”
