Ludhiana, February 25, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute, Ludhiana in association with Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings, Ludhiana organized One Day Awareness Programme on Product Certification at MSME Development Institute Ludhiana today.
The main objective of the Program was to create Awareness among MSMEs about the scheme of Govt. Of India, Ministry of MSME for Technology and Quality Up gradation TEQUP under which, MSME manufacturing units will be provided subsidy to the extent of 75% of the actual expenditure, towards obtaining product certification licensing from National Standardization Bodies like AGMARK, BIS(ISI), BEE (Star rating) and International Product Certifications (CE, UL, ANSI, etc.).
Manoj Sharma, Assistant Director (MSME) welcomed the Chief Guest Manjeet Singh Khalsa, Vice President, CICU, Vijay Kumar, Director MSME DI, Ludhiana, other dignitaries and participants in the program.
Neeraj Arora, Assistant Director (MSME) informed all regarding objectives of the program. He also informed about the various types of National and International Product Certification Standards like Agmark, ISI Mark, CE etc and explained the Importance of these standards in capturing global markets.
G. S. Brar, Technical Expert, from M/s. QUALITECH, Ludhiana delivered the technical deliberations and informed the Role of International Product Certifications like CE relevant to those industries who wish to export their product to European Market and gain recognition in international market. He also explained the authorization procedure for using CE mark on the products.
R. C. Meena, SMO, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), Ministry of Agriculture, Chandigarh informed the participants about the Importance of Grading in Agricultural Produce and Food products in gaining market competitiveness. He also informed that AGMARK certified food products are good for the health of consumers. Also the procedure of getting the product certified under AGMARK was explained in detail.
Manjeet Singh Khalsa, President, CICU also spoke on the occasion and stressed the need for getting products certified for National and International Standards as per the requirement of Indian and Global Market to survive in today’s tough competition.
Vijay Kumar, Director, MSME DI, Ludhiana addressed the participants and said that Govt. of India is aware of the severe constraints in managing enterprises under which MSEs units operate. MSE sector is being provided support by the Govt. of India for making them globally competitive and achieve success in market. This event is also one of the initiatives under the support. He also informed the participants about the TEQUP scheme under which, MSME manufacturing units will be provided subsidy to the extent of 75% of the actual expenditure, towards obtaining product certification. The maximum GoI assistance allowed per MSME is Rs.1.5 lakh for obtaining product licensing/Marking to National Standards and Rs. 2.0 lakh for obtaining product licensing/Marking to International standards. One MSME unit can apply only once under the scheme.
The Programme was attended by more than 80 participants. Neeraj Arora, Assistant Director gave vote of thanks to the dignitaries and participants of the programme.
