Ludhiana, April 21, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Earth Day’ with full vigour to honour the Mother Earth and concept of peace. The day was full of varied activities. The under lying theme behind these activities was to lend a voice towards environmental conservation.
A special morning assembly was conducted in which students of IV standard expressed their gratitude through short speeches towards the beautiful earth and also urged the people to consciously slow down the effect of technology and modernization on the dwindling and fragile eco-system.
A ‘Cycle Race’ was organized for the students of Kindergarten and I standard. Tiny toddlers participated in bicycle and tricycle races with a prowess and enjoyed the moment. The students of Primary and Senior wing participated in ‘Inter Class and Inter House Best Out of Waste’ competition. They showcased their talent to highlight the three R’s of environmental conservation, ‘Reduce, Reuse and recycle’ and displayed beautiful items of utility by recycling the waste materials. They exhibited their artistic skills by making beautiful lamp shades, wall hangings, decorative pots, strings etc.
Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools appreciated the commitment and contribution of the students for their Mother Earth. He said that the school ensured the inclusion of such activities that contribute in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He told the students to take a vow for making the earth a better place to live in.
Principal Jyoti Pujara congratulated the winners of different competitions. She motivated the students to join hands for understanding their responsibility towards the Mother Earth. She also asked to take pledge to lead a change by using eco-friendly things and protect and save the fast depleting natural resources.
In Cycle Race Competition were Harleen of P.Nsy., Shreyansh of Nsy. Bishakh of K.G and Shine of Ist Standard clinched the first position, Tanishka of P.Nsy. Ayaan of Nsy., Jasmeet of K.G and Gurtej of I class got the second position, Rashi of P.Nsy., Divyanshi of Nsy. Rishi of K.G and Ekampreet of I Standard bagged the third position.
