Ludhiana, May 06, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): A cultural night was organized for the students of girls hostel at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on Tuesday evening. The event started with the Saraswati Vandana to the tunes of which Gulgul performed and set the mood for the evening. Nidhi Sharma warden of the hostel said that it was a great time to watch the students of veterinary university as they showcased a different part of their personality. They displayed great talent in the various activities. Special performances were acted by the students as the Ridhima performed western dance and Jasmine a dance on a contemporary number.
Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice chancellor was the chief guest. He exhorted the student to utilize their energy in constructive tasks while appreciating them and the hostel staff for meticulous planning of the event. Such activities not only bring the best among students but also help them to inculcate the spirit of team work besides honing their leadership skills. He advised that to achieve the success, every student must participate in one or the other extra-curricular activities in addition to their routine academic tasks.
The highlight of the evening was the fashion show that had two rounds of western and traditional. The contestants of the fashion show also faced a question round. The fashion show was judged by Sonu Gandhi, Anveeta Chhatwal and Anupreet Sethi.
An exceptional choreography was done by the final year students and it was greatly appreciated by the audiences. Among the other performances, Sumanpreet performed a solo song and the show was concluded with a impressive Bhangra performance by the girls of the hostel.
Dr SPS Sangha, DSW cum Estate Officer who was the guest of honour, said that hostel life is that kind of phase in student life that it converts the individuals into a disciplined human being. Deans, Directors and other senior officials of the university also enjoyed the show and appreciated the vibrant and cheerful efforts.
