Ludhiana, October 14, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Sat Paul Mittal School believes in providing holistic development to the students. With an aim to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it, a Santoor Concert was organized on today in the Mittal Auditorium in the school campus.
Under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, a society that promotes music, dance and art among young people,the students of Sat Paul Mittal School, had the opportunity of witnessing a melodious Santoor Concert by Padma Shri, Pandit Bhajan Sopori. Accompanying him were his brilliant disciple Veethika Tikoo on santoor and Mithilesh Kumar Jha on the tabla. The function commenced with the floral welcome given to the eminent guests.
This was followed by a welcome address by Dr. Geeta Dua, Head Senior School, in which she introduced Pandit Bhajan Sopori, Mithilesh Kumar Jha, and Veethika Tikoo. The Mittal Auditorium relived the glorious culture of India with the exhilarating performance by the eminent Santoor Legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and his disciples. With his captivating and spellbinding rendition, he overwhelmed the audience. There was also an interactive question session in which the students asked him questions on Indian Classical Music and the prospects of pursuing it.
Meenu Arora, Deputy Head, Senior School, affirmed that Sat Paul Mittal will be organizing more of such performances in future in order to widen the outlook of the children towards our rich cultural heritage. Indeed the divine performance by Pandit Bhajan Sopori would remain embedded in the student’s memory for a long time to come.
