Ludhiana, October 31, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): The 23rd District Level Children’s Science Congress was hosted by Spring Dale Sr. Sec. Public School, Sherpur, Ludhiana and won First position in Senior Urban and Junior Urban categories. The event was organised by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh. 30 Teams from 26 CBSE, ICSE and PSEB schools from all over the District participated in the competition and displayed their presentation through charts and other aids.
The inauguration of the competition was done by Pardeep Kapoor, District Science Supervisor, Ludhiana and Avinash Kaur Walia, M.D. of School. The Programme started with the Lightening of the sacred lamp followed by the Shabad. Kapoor highlighted the main points of the event and mentioned that the contest is divided in 2 categories – Senior and Junior and were further divided in four sub categories – Senior Urban, Senior Rural, Junior Urban and Junior Rural. The focal theme was “Understanding Weather and Climate”. Various topics like Impact of Human Activities on Weather and Climate, Weather, Climate and Ecosystems, Weather Climate and Health etc. were touched upon by the students. A panel of 6 judges used their expertise to make the judgment including Dr. Anju Soni, Dr. Aarti Aggarwal, Kusum Lata, Manpreet Kaur, Aarti Sharma and Ashima Sood The results were announced and the prizes were awarded by the DSS, Pardeep Kapoor and Avinash Kaur Walia, M.D. of Spring Dale School. Sanjeev Kumar, Vikas DEO Office was also present. The names of the winners are attached herewith.
The Managing Director Avinash Kaur Walia welcomed all the students and teachers from various schools. She appreciated the participants for their wonderful presentations and congratulated them for participating in a Mega Event organised by Punjab Govt. She offered her gratitude to Pardeep Kapoor, D.S.S, Ludhiana for providing such platform to the young scientist helping them explore their talent and creativity. Pardeep Kapoor also thanked the Management of the School especially Madan Walia for making excellent arrangements for all the participating schools and providing full comfort to them. The Director Jarnail Singh, Deputy Director Kamalpreet Kaur, Principal, Anil Sharma also applauded the participants and congratulated the winners.
